It is great to hear that Matangi School students are studying our local history. There are some good accounts available on this website about Matangi, the Matangi Factory and the option to do research from original records like papers past. Catherine Lang sent me a great report this week about the opening of the Matangi Post office building in 1914, 11 years after the Post Office began. There is a also website in development by the Tamahere -Woodlands Heritage Group. If you have old photos, records to share please make contact.
Increasingly, there are also information signs around our community with another due in the coming months. The latest sign is that placed on the wall of the Matangi Hall with a sign providing information on the rest of the village and area to be erected outside the Jack Foster Reserve once the carparking area is done.

Lovely to hear of your memories and that you have found our website, Shona.

Lots of beautiful memories my grandparents and parents owned the farm (long lane way) that ran up on the right side of Dairy Factory Houses. I went to Matangi School until I was nine, the farm was sadly sold. My Grandfather was Jack (JB Taylor) my dad, Ron, uncle Eric and Aunty Joy all went to Matangi School before my dad enlisted WWII. Beautiful memories of Matangi.
