The new bus service offering public transport within the local communities and connecting them to the city at the University was blessed by Kaumatua of Ngāti Haua and Ngāti Wairere on February 8. Karakia, songs and speeches were shared and heard and the ribbon cut by the Chair of the Waikato Regional Council(WRC), Pamela Storey. Waikato District Council Mayor, Jacqui Church, Councillor Crystal Beavis, staff of the Kinetic Bus Company, WRC and Council staff involved with the planning and promotion of the service and local community Committee members were also present. We got to meet Laura who will be the driver most of the day from 10.30 to the last run. Route details below. From Monday (12th February 2024) a new bus service will be launched. The 28. Tamahere/Matangi and 27: University – Tauwhare Pā – University service will connect you with your local community and the University of Waikato, from where you could connect to any Hamilton service. This bus service will do alternates routes between the 28: University – Tamahere/Matangi – University and 27: University – Tauwhare Pā – University You can reach any part of both routes e.g. go from Tamahere to Tauwhare Pā via the University and vice versa.

Launching as a trial service in partnership with Waikato District Council, these routes will be using the smaller sprinter bus with 12 seats (or 10 including a wheelchair or mobility scooter). This service connects in Hamilton to the BUSIT services listed below:
University of Waikato, Gate 1
Knighton Road/Clyde Street
- Orbiter(High frequency – 15 minutes: Clockwise and Anti Clockwise)
NOTE: The Orbiter does not connect to the Hamilton Transport Centre - Meteor (High frequency – 15 minutes: West to East)
Cambridge Road
- 10 Hillcrest
- 20 Cambridge
- 22 Eastern Connector (Morrinsville, Matamata, Paeroa, Te Aroha)
