Matabgi Playgroup is changing its day from Wednesday to Monday in a bid to attract a few new members. Matangi has a long history of preschool education. Matangi Playcentre met until the late 1980s and was followed by the Matangi Playgroup which was started in 1991 by local mums. Although always a small group, many of the families involved over the years still live in the area.

At the beginning sessions were held in family homes, later facilities at the Matangi Hillcrest Clubrooms were used until the arrival at Matangi School of the Matangi Scout Group purchased Recreation and Cultural Centre, now known as the Matangi School Hall, Let’s hope the playgroup can continue to offer valuable experiences to local preschool children and foster family connections in our community.
