The Matangi Community Committee was formed to liaise with council on the 2005 and 2013 Community plans and as a group is used as a way for Council to contact the community and vice versa.
The committee was instrumental in the creation of the Jack Foster Reserve, and raises issues of community concern to Council. A request for funding from the Council Discretionary Fund for CCTV cameras in the village was granted.
The Committee has made submissions to the Council Long Term Plans requesting footpaths and improved traffic management and on other issues relevant to the community including the Council Blueprint. This has been followed up with the creation, through local consultation. of the Matangi Strategic Plan which sets out the history, describes the community and focusses attention on what needs to be done to ensure our community continues to flourish
Meetings are held at least quarterly – February, May, August and November usually on the second Tuesday evening at 7.30 p.m. at the Matangi Hall or Tamahere Council and Community Office. Councillors Crystal Beavis and/or Mike Keir attend. . All residents are welcome to attend and be involved.
