The Matangi Community Committee was formed to liaise with council on the 2005 and 2013 Community plans and as a group is used as a way for Council to contact the community and vice versa.
The committee was instrumental in the creation of the Jack Foster Reserve, and raises issues of community concern to Council. A request for funding from the Council Discretionary Fund for CCTV cameras in the village was granted.
The Committee has made submissions to the Council Long Term Plans requesting footpaths and improved traffic management and on other issues relevant to the community including the Council Blueprint.
Meetings are held at least quarterly – February, May, August and November usually on the second Tuesday evening at 7.30 p.m. at the Matangi School. Councillor Rob McGuire attends. All residents are welcome to attend and be involved.
