Each time the LTP comes around the Matangi Community Committee (MCC) identifies and requests from Council an amenity or service that addresses a concern or offers an improvement in our community. For instance, securing pedestrian access from Matangi to Hillcrest along Matangi Road took a few years but we did get there! Councillors appreciate the opportunity to hear of local concerns. Funding is always tight so identifying a top priority can be important.
The most frequent local discussion point at the moment is the state of Tauwhare Road between the village and Highway 1B and the accidents that have occurred there. It is our understanding that this work, with provision for a footpath is programmed for this financial year.
What would be your next priority? – a pedestrian crossing outside Matangi School on Matangi Road? – widen the road for more parking on Tauwhare Road? – extension of the bus service beyond the current Pilot? – something else?
