The Waikato district is currently on Water Alert Level 1
Water Alert Level 1 means using a sprinkler between 6am – 8am and 6pm – 8pm or hand-held hosing at any time.
You can check which alert level we are at here
Ideas on how to use water wisely from Smart Water are as below:
Summer is finally here, with the warmer weather the amount of water we use goes up and this puts pressure on our water supply.
Water alert levels help to ensure water is used in a sustainable way so there is enough for everyone throughout summer
There are lots of simple ways to reduce your water use over the summer months. For example:
• Wash your car and your pets on an area of lawn that needs watering.
• Use a broom instead of your hose when cleaning areas like patios and driveways.
• Instead of the sprinkler, try some of our Smart Water Play ideas with your kids.
Remember, small savings add up to make a big difference!
