Do you know the names of any food delivery services currently operating in our area that could support the Waikato Civil Defence and Emergency Management plan to provide services to people in need.
I have received the following request from Council staff today
“Today’s priority is to contact ALL FOOD PROVIDERS and gather the following specific information:
Do they provide just a box of ingredients or full ready to eat meals? what food/items go into each of your food parcels?
What areas do they/can they service?
Are these delivered or made to pick up?
What is their current capacity (e.g, they deliver to 6 people currently)
What is their potential TOTAL capacity (e.g. if we needed to they could deliver to 50 people max)
What support do they require from Civil Defence to continue this service (e.g. support delivering meals or restock of food)
We know you are all doing so much with your own whanau and friends and so we thank you for all the support you are already doing. Building this centralised contact base to best coordinate the Waikato Welfare Response is vital to ensuring our communities can get the essentials they need at this time.
We thank you for your hard work, support and cooperation at this time!
Freephone 0800 800 405 which is for anyone in our district struggling to get food, groceries, medication or other household goods and services, particularly those facing hardship, the disabled, at risk groups, and people without access to their own transport.
Ngaa mihi nui
