The Waikato district is now in a restricted fire season. This means you may need to apply for a fire permit if you want to light an outdoor fire. Go to www.checkitsalright.nz to apply.The restricted fire season will cover all of the Waikato, Waipa, Otorohanga, Matamata-Piako, Hauraki, Waitomo, and South Waikato District Council boundaries.

Thanks Brian. I have just tried it for a land management fire in this area tomorrow and was advised I needed a permit so hopefully the tool is now working as it should.

As of now, 15.22 3.1.21 ‘checkitsalright.co.nz’ is still showing yes for all types of fire.
