Matangi Trees Community Survey Outcomes May 2022

The Matangi Community Committee Survey on trees for the village section of Matangi Road received 100 carefully considered responses to produce a clear choice. More than half of respondents had the Prunus yedoensis ‘Mountain Haze’ as their first or second choice.

It was great to see so many responses and the care with which people explained their choices and offered advice. The responses are well worth a good read.

The Matangi Community Committee will meet on Tuesday night, 17 May, at the Tamahere Council and Community offices(above the Tamahere Pharmacy) at 7.30 p.m.. The recommendation to Council from the community can be discussed then. All Welcome

The advice we have from Council’s arborist, Kevin Gordon, includes 1. that Council do not want to plant any trees under the powerlines and 2. that any property owner with a street tree frontage can choose to not have a tree planted outside their property.

Any queries please contact the committee via matangicommunityc@gmail.com or Kitty Burton 0273411906
