Matangi Community Committee Meeting, Tuesday August 9, Council and Community Space (Above the Tamahere Pharmacy), 7.30 p.m. All welcome

One matter for discussion is whether an application should be made for funding available for environmental, infrastructure and community projects from the funding being offered to Councils under the transition to Three Waters named Better Off Funding. Of $31,531,126, allocated to the Waikato District applications are open, until August 19, for $7.88 m from individuals, organisations and groups for projects to be completed by 30.06.2027. The next allocation will be available from 01.07.2024 dependent on the the Three Waters Reform Programme progressing.

Initial assessment of applications will be made by a Waikato District Council panel with final decisions being made by the Department of Internal Affairs.

Suggested projects suggested for Matangi include upgrade the waste water system, undergrounding of powerlines within the village on Matangi Road, upgrade community facilities at Jack Foster Reserve, a pedestrian path for the loop from the village to Hoeka Road and Woodside to Matangi Road.
